I love The Hills. I loved Laguna Beach - only, of course during the Kristen/LC drama (I have ALWAYS been Team LC) and when poor, pathetic Jessica was in love with Justin AWOLer. The class after - they blew. But, I loved the purity of the originals.
No scripts...no re-shooting...you know! REALITY!!?!?!?
Okay, so maybe it's never been reality, but it's always been FANTASTIC!
I heard they were doing a spin-off with my personal favorite Hills alum, Whitney Port and I was IN! Not only do they set us up by introducing us to her new boy toy during The Hills - they provide us with a catchy theme song a la "Unwritten."
So, I'm already 3 episodes in and I love it - but feel the friendships are a little more contrived this time. Olivia is crazy-hot, but she can't even ACT like she really wants to be friends with our sweet Whit! She's just plumb mean! Is this how all "socials" of the Upper East Side act? Not Serena van der Woodsen. And Blair CERTAINLY wouldn't be caught dead spitting in the subway...let alone taking the subway. Has Gossip Girl forsaken me in its representation? I digress...
I love Erin - anyone else? She seems like a sweet pea and I think it's fantastic that she just unabashedly says I love you to the first Torontan to hit the streets. Have you been to Toronto? I would drop the L-Bomb right away, too!
I'm not sure about this Jay character yet. He's a little like the bad lighting woman Jerry Seinfeld dated once - sometimes super-hot, but in certain lighting, a bit of a disaster. Previews promise to show us a more sensitive side of Mr. Jay - one that wants to be exclusive with Whit-Whit. My prediction...? She does it. MTV loves to PRETEND people are going to break up - a la Speidi - but it never happens. The girls always goes running back.
So - I'm pretty dang sure I'm going to be pleased with the entire season. Thank you MTV for making Mondays manageable again.
Does anyone else wonder how Whit walks around on those toothpick stilts all day? Seriously - her legs are smaller than my arms!
Having an affair with my television,
Mollie
